Accessibility Barriers

Gentle Immersion and Configuration

The User Reality: Launching a user directly into a high-intensity 3D environment can cause immediate "Sensory Shock." The lack of an introductory "build-up" or configuration phase leads to disorientation and rapid task abandonment.

Research:

The Openality Standard

The full sensory environment must never be loaded until the user has explicitly confirmed their readiness within a neutral, low-stimulus space.

  • Constraint: The system must not present high-intensity sensory environments without a "preview" or configuration phase.
  • Requirement: Users must be enabled to define their sensory safety limits (volume, brightness) before the application loads the full 3D environment.

Core Behaviours

Anticipatory Configuration: A pre-immersion setup phase that allows users to adjust sensory settings and preview the environment, ensuring they are prepared for the experience and can set their own safety limits.

Primary Interaction Patterns

The Neutral Buffer Zone: A calming, low-stimulus environment that serves as a refuge for users to regulate their sensory input before engaging with the main experience. This space allows users to preview and adjust settings, providing a gentle transition into the full sensory environment.
