Granular Environmental Control

Core Behaviour

Logic

Many immersive experiences feature complex sensory environments that can be overwhelming for users with sensory sensitivities. These environments often include a mix of audio and visual stimuli that can trigger discomfort or distress. Granular Environmental Control allows users to adjust specific elements of the sensory environment to better suit their needs, providing a more comfortable and accessible experience.

Addresses

Overwhelming audio levels, excessive visual stimuli, lack of control over sensory input, the inability to filter out specific triggers.

Implementation Specification

Audio is separated into independent controls for Music, Voice, Sound Effects, and Ambience. Visuals are separated into controls for Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation.

Interaction Patterns

The Sensory Dashboard: the primary interface for this logic, providing users with a centralised hub to adjust these granular settings both before and during immersion.

Global Visual Intensity Controls: implemented as additional visual controls that can be adjusted independently or in conjunction with the granular settings for Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation.
